Minutes of ns-3 Steering Committee telecon January 23, 2015 Attendees: Nicola Baldo, Walid Dabbous, Tom Henderson, Felipe Perrone, Manuel Ricardo, George Riley 1) review 2014 annual report and current financial status The meeting agreed to finalize and post the annual report to the project web site. 2) LLNL membership status Tom reported that he is in discussions with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) about renewing their consortium membership. 3) Workshop and annual meeting planning - update on technical affiliations (Thomson WoS, ICST, ACM) Technical affiliations with ICST and ACM have been arranged, and the proceedings chair (Eric Gamess) is trying to contact Reuters Thomson WoS. - Local Information needed (suggested accommodations, requesting visa, maps, etc.) Nicola will send to Tom some information to post on the WNS3 site. - keynotes and invited talks-- any suggestions? We agreed to each gather one or two suggested names and discuss further at a later date. - scheduling the official consortium annual meeting (suggested for Thurs afternoon, May 14) We agreed to hold this immediately after WNS3. Thursday morning if WNS3 is only one day, and Thursday afternoon if WNS3 expands to 1.5 days. - coffee and meals We agreed that lunch will be responsibility of each attendee at local restaurants. Nicola is looking into the options for the consortium to pay for a coffee service. - video streaming Opinions were neutral about whether to try to stream any sessions, but Nicola said that some facilities to do this on a best effort basis may be available and he will look into it. - training fees We agreed that the fee structure from 2014 was reasonable and should be repeated. Walid will look into whether a European account can be set up to receive money in Euros and reimburse in Euros (for this and future European events) without wire transfer fees. - training volunteers So far, we have Peter, Nicola, and Tom. Tom agreed to ask other maintainers if they want to attend and lead any sessions. Tom agreed to update the training flyer to distribute externally to promote the event. - travel support The meeting agreed to support Tom Henderson's travel expenses to Barcelona. 4) Washington DC training opportunity in March Tom Henderson will coordinate 1.5 days of training at the 2015 NRL Mobile Network Modeling workshop in Arlington VA, 18-19 March. Depending on the attendance reservations, attendance may be opened up to the ns-3 community at a later date. 5) infrastructure update: web server and backup site status. Brian Swenson at Ga. Tech completed the cutover of our main web server to dedicated hardware, and is in the process of finalizing a parallel configuration to mirror the site at the University of Washington, to reduce downtimes. 6) any other business The meeting agreed that a telecon in the March timeframe was needed.
