The ns-developers list is an open list where ns developers can discuss future changes to the simulator. From list inception (1997) through October 2022, this list was hosted by USC's Information Sciences Institute (ISI). List archives are available here:

Although anyone is welcome to subscribe to this list, if you are considering posting, please read the following about appropriate posting to this list. Most discussions are related to ns-3, since ns-2 is no longer actively developed.

Examples of inappropriate posts to ns-developers

  • Questions about compiling ns-2 or ns-3 on different hardware or software distributions.
    • For ns-3, see the ns-3-users Google group and its posting guidelines.
    • For ns-2, see the ns-users mailing list, or the troubleshooting page.
  • Questions about availability of software models
    • For ns-3, read the model library documentation, search the code, search the Google group archive, or consult the contributed code page.
    • For ns-2, read the documentation, search the code, search the mailing list archive, or consult the contributed code page.
  • Questions of a tutorial nature.

This list is moderated for first time posters to cut down on the number of inappropriate posts. Participants will be whitelisted (non-moderated) after their initial post. Also, the ns-developers list allow posts from subscriber only. If you're not a subscriber, your posts to the list will be rejected.
