ns-3.18 was released on 29 August 2013. This release features the latest LTE module code from the LENA project, including the following new features: 1) PHY support for UE measurements (RSRP and RSRQ), 2) RRC support for UE measurements (configuration, execution, reporting), and 3) automatic Handover trigger based on RRC UE measurement reports. Enhancements to the buildings module used in LTE, to enable the use of any mobility model, have been added. 802.11n features have been added to the WiFi module; it is possible to create a high throughput (HT) node that uses the 11n data rates and preambles. This release also adds new data collection components enabling the plotting and file outputs from ns-3 trace sources, and a new generic hash function interface in the simulation core. In addition, work on several aspects to improve IPv6 support has been added, including Path-MTU detection and a new helper for the radvd daemon.

A maintenance release, ns-3.18.1, was made on 15 November 2013 to improve compiler support (most notably, for OS X Mavericks) and to fix a bug in the API scanning code, among a few other improvements.

A second maintenance release was made on 3 December 2013, but ns-3 source code was not changed and is still numbered ns-3.18.1. However, the bake build system was updated to fix a build regression for Direct Code Execution (DCE) environment. This release is numbered ns-allinone-3.18.2 and differs from ns-allinone-3.18.1 only in the bakeconf.xml file.
